Patagonia To Lima
A 31 hour trip to the greatest city yet...
The Best City In The World 🌎
The humid air.
Over cast with occasional sun rays.
73 Degrees.
Tropical.
Busy city with music, chatter, and laughs.
Walking around it’s hard not to smile cheek to cheek.
Katie cried 4 times from happiness.
We made it back to Lima, it called to us and we decided to return and couldn’t be happier with the choice.
This cities blown us away, returning you’re never sure if it’ll have the same effect that it originally did on you.
But Sunday was unbelievable, and today we went for a run at 6 and the city was alive with people out running, dogs, perfect weather and amazing smells!
We visited the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima, it’s across from our apartment and it blew us away… This exhibit is all about color which was extremely cool.

MAC, Lima
South to North
I sat there with chills on my body, stomach in a knot with stabbing pains piercing it, unable to get comfortable or fall asleep I check my watch.
3:10 am “Crap” I mumble to myself finding it hard to believe it had only been 20 minutes since the last time I checked…
Four more hours and we’ll be there, I remember I have Advil in my backpack and take one.
The lights flip on “Buenos Dias” the bus driver yells walking upstairs “Bienvenidos Santiago de Chile”.
I check my watch 7am but still dark out.
I managed to doze off around 5:30…
We get out of the bus and grab our packs, walking into the busy bus station I’m disoriented. I look at Katie “Somethings wrong, I think I got food poisoning”
Looking around I see an ATM “Let’s grab some cash for a taxi and figure out where we want to go.”
Our flight doesn’t leave til 4pm, deciding this park along the river would be the best place to hangout at until cafes open we decide to head over that way.
Walking out of the bus station the streets bustling, people picking up their beds from the side walk, others selling different types of street food and some already out with razors and other gadgets spread across their blankets on the sidewalk for sale.
A bit on edge we start walking to find a taxi I’m feeling a bit disappointed I can’t have some street food…
Our taxi rolls up to the park, we picked a spot a bit more south from where we were last time… Bad idea.. We’re sitting in the taxi to get out and he’s looking at the park, he starts saying something in Spanish along the lines of “Solo personas peligroso” something about it being dangerous, and pointing to someone walking down the street, hanging out for a second and talking to him about it, he seems to lighten up and then we get out and start walking down the street.
A little on edge we find the skatepark a little while later and post up in the grass, I end up taking a quick nap while the suns rising and Katie stays up to keep an eye on our stuff now fully being the part of homeless. We finally take another taxi to a better part of town where we find a really awesome cafe called “Wonderland Cafe” Alice in Wonderland themed with great food and coffee! We had wished we found this part of town when we were in Santiago last month…
Taking an Uber from there to the airport we get ready for the final leg of our journey to Lima.
The airport, flight, and customs went seamlessly and we arrived at our new home for the month by 7:30pm, ordered some phenomenal ramen (which I could only stomach a little of…) and passed out!
Upon entering Chile on the bus this was the first time we were asked to fill out any document for border crossing in South America and to start it out a man walked onto the bus and collected everyones passports and then left with them, Katie looks at me “Do you think he works for border control?” haha… Could have been a great setup absolutely..
I’m not sure how we’ve seamlessly crossed borders without really running into any proper border setups or even bag checks until now..
17 Hour Bus
9 Hour Layover
4 Hour Flight
1 Hour Uber
2 Borders
31 Hour Travel Day
We arrive at our new spot in Barranco Lima, Peru for the month.
All with incredibly bad food poisoning I was just at the point of enduring.
And yes, we came back to Lima because we loved it so much and it was calling, it’s a great middle spot while picking a place in the Amazon to go.
P.S. Ubers are waaay cheaper than taxis in any of these cities we’ve been to down here

Lima, Peru
Skiing in Patagonia
We enjoyed our last week in Patagonia.
We made it up for a perfect spring skiing day, the morning was icy and our rental skis had no edges it was just a flat drift every turn which made it quite fun…
But it softened up nicely in the sun and was a pretty warm day! The mountain Cerro Catedral was gorgeous, the views were amazing and they had a lot of Freeride terrain, absolutely looking forward to coming back with our own skis in the winter! The base was a bit uncovered…

Cerro Catedral kinda looks like Tahoe…
Day Late & A Dollar Short
I planned on writing this post on the bus, but I guess there were other plans in progress…
I recovered from the food poisoning alright, but my stomach still feels a bit uneasy.
I’m beyond stoked to be setup in Lima for the month and will update more on life here next week!
Be easy & enjoy life.
Cheers,
Me
